Silk Road Review: A Literary Crossroads is an exchange of worlds. We publish original fiction, nonfiction, poetry, one-act plays, screenplays, graphic narratives, translations, first chapters, and artwork that take us to new places, whether physical or metaphorical.

Historically, the Silk Road was not a single road, but rather a network of pathways that spanned national borders. We believe that the trading of stories and ideas across boundaries is essential to building a healthy global community. If our journal can bring together diverse voices—whether they be nationally or emotionally or intellectually defined—then we will have lived up to our journal’s name by expanding our sense of the world through connection.

We are delighted to share the Silk Road Review is a paying literary magazine. While there is a $2 submission fee, this means our contributors receive $10/per page for prose (up to a maximum of $250 per published piece) and $30 for each poem and piece of artwork. Writers receive payment for their work and one copy of the issue in which their work appears when it is released. 

Submissions should be sent via the online submission system as .doc or .docx file in 12 point Times New Roman, double-spaced, with one inch margins. The author's name, address, email address, and phone number must be printed on the first page. Please number each page. Any alterations to the submission should be sent through Submittable. Please reference the guidelines for the individual genre for further specifications.

We are always accepting new submissions, but our reading period is from September 1st-December 1st and February 1st-May 1st.  Any submissions sent to us outside of our reading periods will be considered in the next reading period.

Submit to Graphic Narratives

  • No more than 5in x 8in size
  • The first page can be in color, but the rest should be in black and white

Please send up to 5 images of your original artwork in .jpeg or .png format. The digital photo or scanned image must be 300dpi. We are not accepting audio or video at this time. 

If Submittable only allows you to upload one file, submit that one for $2 and then email the other 4 to our email: silkroad.pacific@gmail.com and we will review the rest of them as well.
